Annual-biennial; glandular hairy; stem numerous, prostrate, up to 35cm, branching from the base, densely leafy, basal leaves soon falling.


Leaves cordate-elongate or oblong in outline, Leaves simple, sometimes basal leaves 3-sects and then the 2 small leaflets sessile, lower and upper 3-5-lobed 30-50mm long and 20mm wide, crenate denticulate; stipules ovate to triquetrous, 7-13mm, with dense indumentum on edges and back.


Inflorescence: Peduncles not much longer than leaf petioles, usually 4cm long; bracts several, thin pale, densely hairy, bases not connate, 2-3mm x 1.5mm; umbels of 3-5 flowers on thin pedicels 1-2cm long; sepals 5-6mm long, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 5-nerved, mucro 1mm; flowers about 1.2cm across, equi-petaled lilac, deeper veined. Nectaries green, stamen filaments glabrous. Beak 3-5.2cm, mericarps blackish, 6-10mm; foveole eglandular. Cotyledons entire.


Distribution: S. America; Argentina, Province of Cordoba, Rio Primero, Sierra Chica; on river sand-bars.
