Erodium carolinianum Aldasoro & Al.


A sprawling to nearly erect perennial with a thick fleshy tap-root; stems to 600mm, covered in soft glandular hairs.


Leaves: are deeply 3-lobed but not to the midrib and small, to 20mm long but up to 40mm wide.

Inflorescence: Umbels with (1-) 3-5 flowers,  sepals with long glandular hairs; petals 12 mm, blue, veined red with a red base; anthers and stigma red, filaments are the same length as the stamens, flower buds rounded and furry; beak 60-100(-120) long; mericarps with a white-brown covering, foveole wider than long.


Distribution: South Australia, mostly around the lakes, but occasionally from Alice Springs: extra-tropical S Australia in open habitats.
