Erodium populifolium L’Her.


Caulescent perennial with a tuberous root; caudex 20-25 cm high, woody, 8-12mm thick.


Leaves: Leaves ovate, little divided, obtusely toothed, glabrous.


Inflorescence: Annual flowering stems with umbels of 9-14 flowers about 3.5cm across, petals pale rose, with veins, little or not spotted, upper petals slightly broader and shorter than lower; stamen filaments pink, hairy; anthers pale orange; flowers March to June.


Fruit: Beak 5-7 cm; mericarp 9-10 mm, with an infrafoveolar furrow; foveole eglandular; awn with 5-8 turns. 2n=20


Distribution: endemic to western Tunisia and Eastern Algeria, in maritime sands.
